Lohtaja Church, Kokkola
From the churchyard at Lohtaja, the dark-timbered wooden church of 1768 fills the left of the frame, its shingled double-cross roof and entrance steps centered; to the right, the tall wooden belfry rises above the parish log buildings; gravestones dot the grass around birches turning gold, and under a perfectly clear early-afternoon sky the whole church village glows in autumn light.
